Springwater Sports Heritage Welcomes Barb Maw as New Vice Chairperson
The Springwater Sports Heritage (SSH) board is thrilled to announce that Barb Maw has been appointed as the Vice Chairperson. The appointment was confirmed at last evening’s Board Meeting. Barb has served with unwavering dedication since joining the SSH Board on February 11, 2019 as Director and Finance Chairperson. Her steadfast commitment, impressive achievements, and extensive contributions to the sports community have established her as a pivotal figure in fulfilling SSH’s mission.
Since her appointment to the Board, Barb has demonstrated exemplary leadership in many ways. Her contributions as a volunteer within the community have aligned seamlessly with SSH’s strategic goals. As both President and administrator in Minesing and Georgian Bay, she cultivated local baseball programs while productively coaching and managing successful teams. She has been a valued member of the Minesing Recreational Committee, School Board, and served as a Scout Leader. Barb’s strong financial background, paired with her remarkable service to the sports community, made her an ideal choice for her initial SSH role as Finance Chairperson.
Most recently, Barb raised the bar as Induction Chairperson. Her leadership ensured the 2024 SSH Induction Ceremony reached unprecedented heights, highlighted by its successful livestreaming initiative. Her accomplishments over the past six years as a board member have solidified her reputation as a strategic thinker, avid contributor to SSH’s ad hoc strategic planning committee, and champion of operational excellence.
As Vice Chairperson, Barb will take on an even greater role in guiding SSH's future activities and tackling emerging challenges. This position carries significant operational and tactical responsibilities as part of the SSH Executive Committee, including shaping and driving the organization's strategic goals. Barb’s financial expertise and strategic foresight position her as an ideal leader to navigate SSH's involvement in Springwater's new community hub. She will play a key role in developing innovative uses for the hub’s video wall and interactive displays to celebrate and showcase Springwater’s rich sports heritage, ensuring SSH remains at the forefront of connecting the community through sports and history.
