Nelson passed away at age 75 on April 19, 2024 at Hospice Simcoe in Barrie

Springwater Sports Heritage was surprized and astonished to learn of Nelson’s passing. Nelson just recently (2023) joined the Springwater Sports Heritage Board and was quickly becoming an outstanding and appreciated contributor. A short time ago Nelson notified the Board of some health issues and was beginning related medical treatment. To our disbelief it was incomprehensible that his passing would occur so quickly.
Nelson was a member of the outstanding 1964-65 Alex Currie Pontiac Juvenile Hockey Championship Team and many senior level hockey teams in the Elmvale community. He was one that could always be relied on to bring his “A” game. Nelson could be described as a “quiet winner”. His exceptional contributions and achievements spoke for him.
Springwater Sports Heritage morns his loss and the loss of what he would have been able to undertake and accomplish. Nelson was a leading and passionate supporter of establishing Springwater Sports Heritage in the proposed Township of Springwater Community Hub. His conviction and endorsement of the value of preserving Springwater’s Sporting Heritage will continue to guide and energize his fellow Board Members.
