Dan McGinnis has continually given back to his community through his bowling Centre “Springwater Lanes”. He has devoted so much of his time towards helping people learn the sport and hone their skills. The development of the Youth Bowling Council changed the lives of many young people in and around Elmvale, giving them an opportunity to play the sport at an elite level. With his entrepreneurship and big ideas, Dan brought this Bowling sporting scene to the area for more than twenty years, Though he had little experience, his hard work paid off. Dan showed himself to be a strong leader, a creative Builder as well as a respected Sport role model.

Narrative:
As a young boy, Dan’s father took him to the bowling alley in Wasaga Beach. Though it had an older crowd, it put an important idea into his head: Elmvale needed a bowling alley. Dan opened Springwater Lanes in Elmvale in 1995, and welcomed people of all age groups. He started a youth bowling league, Youth Bowling Council, and encouraged children from 5-19 to learn the sport he loved. Before opening Springwater Lanes, Dan had never owned a business or played in a bowling league, but he clearly knew what he was doing; not only did the business thrive, he also coached many young bowlers to the Provincial Finals. Dan became a Level 1 coach, Ontario 5 Pin Bowlers Association member, and Zone President of the Proprietors Association. As a right-handed bowler, Dan held a career average in the 230’s. After a shoulder injury, he bowled left-handed and still maintained that average. For over twenty years Dan McGinnis guided the Sport of Bowling to became a welcome and successful addition to the Springwater Sporting scene.
