Patrick (Pat) Crowe Narrative

Pat worked full time as a horse trainer/driver, and put his heart and soul into his chosen profession.  He established several records that serve as testimony to his dedication, aptitude and accomplishment. Pat raced extensively throughout Canada and the United States and was highly respected across North America.  In the glory days of the early 1980s Pat’s stable ranked among the best on the continent.  During this period the stable was anchored by two great Standardbred Harness Racing horses, Cam Fella and Justin Passing. The barn earned nearly $3 million in the 1982-1983 seasons.

Pat is possibly best known for being the trainer/driver of Cam Fella. Cam Fella was the Canadian and US Horse of the Year two years in a row (1982 & 1983).  In that second year Pat and Cam Fella collectively celebrated 28 consecutive wins.  During his racing days Cam Fella was known fondly as "the Pacing Machine." In 1984 Cam Fella retired as the richest standardbred horse in the history of harness racing ($2,041,367 USD).  He retired to stud in New Jersey and became one of the greatest progenitors in the history of the standardbred horse. During Cam Fella’s retirement he sired 1,002 foals and his offspring accumulated $106.9 million USD.

During Pat's lengthy career the records show he won 1,284 races and over $8 million in purses.  Pat was a true champion and a dominate contributor to Standardbred Harness Racing vocation.
