Homer "Ormand" Barrett Highlights


1946
     ♦  Homer began playing organized hockey in the Elmvale Minor System.
1951-52
     ♦  Member of Stayner Rockets, O.H.A. Juvenile hockey Semi- Finalists.
1953-54
     ♦  Playing with the Junior “C” Midland Red Wings the team captured the O.H.A. hockey championship.
1950’s
     ♦  As a member of the Stayner Royals he served as captain when the team was victorious in capturing the Callahan Cup which was 
         emblematic of the Central Ontario Int. hockey championship
     ♦  Assistant captain of the Elmvale Harvesters Central Ontario Int.”B” hockey finalists.
1958
     ♦  Barrie Torgis Automotive Fastball Team, Copaco Trophy winners.
1959-1962
     ♦  Member of both Elmvale Fastball Teams who were Georgian Bay League champions during both years.
1964.
     ♦  Captain of Elmvale Palace Hotel Fastball Team, Int.”C” Southern Ontario Finalists.
1964 & 1965
     ♦  Captain of the Elmvale Palace Hotel Barrie Senior League Fastball champions for consecutive years
1967-68
     ♦  Captain of Elmvale “Int. C” Western Ontario hockey league champions.
     ♦  Captain of Elmvale O.H.A. Int. “B” hockey finalists against Durham.
1970/71 & 1971/72
     ♦  Won M.V.P. honours with Elmvale Intermediate “C” hockey team. (Phelpston Hotelman)
1970’s
     ♦  Playing Int. “C” for Penetang the team reached the O.H.A. hockey finals against Minden.
1998
     ♦  Inducted into the Midland Sports Hall of Fame in team category.( 1953-54 Midland Red Wings Hockey Team)
2016
     ♦  Inducted into the Springwater Sports Heritage Hall of Fame in the team category. (Elmvale Palace Hotel 1964 Fastball Team)
Career
     ♦  Won several team and individual awards during his hockey and fastball career.
     ♦  Scored 1000 goals during his twenty-one year competitive hockey career. This achievement was saluted during a Toronto Maple Leaf
         Hockey Night in Canada broadcast.
     ♦  A multi sport athlete who in addition to hockey and fastball was also an accomplished golfer, bowler and curler.
     ♦  In addition to his many years playing for Elmvale he also played hockey for Stayner, Midland and Penetang and fastball for a Barrie team.
