Emily Racco Narrative
I grew up a natural athlete when it came to all sports. I registered with the
EMHA, the perfect environment that fostered my love of the game. After 3 years as a Coyote, I
transitioned to the BWHA, and my development and knowledge of the game continued to grow.
As a Barrie Shark, I played with a core hockey family for 4 years and we competed and
accomplished many goals. While at EDHS, I played 3 years on the Eagles Hockey Varsity
Team. In my last year of Midget, I attended a tournament in Stoney Creek where I was
approached by several Universities and Colleges in the United States. In the fall of 2018, I
signed an NLI with POST University. I was drawn to the school because it resembles EDHS in
so many ways. It’s a small community where the school’s slogan “Post makes it Personal” is
lived throughout the quaint campus. I was awarded both an academic and athletic scholarship. I
graduated Post University with a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management with a concentration
in Psychology and a double minor in Art and Psychology. With one year of eligibility for hockey, I
transferred to SUNY Cortland in Upstate New York where I played my final year of Ice Hockey
and earned a Masters in Sport Management where we won the SUNYAC and played in the
NCAA tournament, which is the top 10 teams in the United States.
I have currently accepted a position as the Youth Hockey and Community Outreach Intern for
the Columbus Blue Jackets NHL team in Columbus, Ohio for the 2023/2024 hockey season.
