1964 Elmvale Fastball Team Anecdotes


The Elmvale Palace Hotel Team posted a convincing victory over the Richmond Hill Dynes Jeweler Team, who were crowned 1964 World Champions at Manilla that year and Toronto Q Beach League winner, 1964, This was a final win to take the Hillsdale Ontario Annual Tournament. Leo Belcourt was the pitcher of record for Elmvale, while “World All Star pitcher”, Bob Dominik of Richmond Hill, took the loss, as reported by The Elmvale Lance News.
 

Elmvale pitchers, Leo Belcourt and Danny McHugh were an exciting, integral part of Elmvale Palace Hotel team’s successes in 1964. A young Leo Belcourt went on to rank number two as a pitcher in Canada with future Barrie Teams, while Danny McHugh was ranked highly in Canada in 1964 with the Elmvale Team.
