Elmer McFadden Anecdotes

Anne Ververs, Elmer’s daughter, describes the many evening meals and Christmas dinners that were interrupted because Elmer was called upon or away to solve some Minor Hockey “scheduling issue”

Anne also relates that she was sometimes sent along with her dad on night-time trips to various tournament presentations ceremonies to keep him awake on the way home.

Elmer muses about the size of the OMHA now as compared to when he was an executive. His recollection is paraphrased as…Times have changed during those years as president, secretary and treasurer when the work was done part-time and often in the basement of one’s home. Now the OMHA has an executive director and 15 employees with him in a big office.

One year Elmer recalls the “unheard-of” task of taking on three Convenor Positions in one year due to illness etc. of those who were to do the job.
